A Short Trip to Boston - Part I - Fenway Park

September 10, 2016

I took a short trip to Boston. The main purpose was to watch a baseball game at Fenway Park.  Even though I am not a baseball fan at all, I found out that I fell in love with Fenway Park.   The enthusiastic and exciting atmosphere outside of Fenway Park before games is truly unique.  Yawkey Way is closed prior to every game so fans can mingle and enjoy live music, great food and the company of other Red Sox fans outside Fenway Park.  It feels festival and delighful !

Though generations have come and gone, Fenway Park remains, much like it did the day it opened on April 20, 1912.  It has been the location for the Boston Red Sox, the city's Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise. It is the oldest ballpark in MLB.

It was a pleasant surprise seeing a rooftop garden with produce and herbs when I walked around the stadium – Fenway Farms - "it is sited on a 5,000 square foot roof above the Red Sox Front Offices. Previously an underutilized black rubber membrane roof, the space will now be used much more productively with an estimated 4,000 lbs of produce harvested annually.  In the spring of 2015, Fenway Farms was planted, a rooftop garden on the third base side of the ballpark, above Yawkey Way. Produce and herbs grown in "Fenway Farms" will be used in food products prepared at the ballpark, including the restaurant in the EMC Club."  -- Source

I had never been to a baseball game before and was nervous what outfit to put on in order to look properly dressed for the occasion.  To play safe, I chose this t-shirt with a denim skirt.  It turned out to be  all right.  No one dressed athletic or sporty in a fashion-forward way :)  I love the ruffled sleeves of the t-shirt, and the lined buttons on the flare denim skirt, both add some feminine touch to these neutral pieces.  With a pair of espadrille slip on, I was all set to head for a whole day adventure :)

When we left the stadium, we spotted the gorgeous colors of the sky across the stadium.

We spent sometime at the Marine Industrial Park close by before heading to Fenway Park.  There was almost no one else there and we had the whole park and the pier to ourselves. It was a very enjoyable time.
