Black on Black

Today I am wearing black on black, pairing my favorite wide-leg velvet pants with a silk wrap blouse and a pair of suede stilettos. While a head-to-toe all-black outfit may sound cool, it may easily turn dull and boring. In this post I am showing some ways to make my all-black outfit feel fresh and fun.

I. Dress in contrasting textures like velvet, silk, leather, and fur. An all-black outfit is anything but boring when you play with texture.

I have here the combination of velvet (pants), silk (blouse) and suede (stilettos).

II. Accessorize the outfit with scarf or statement jewelry.

This large semi-sheer bright-yellow draping scarf adds color and dimension to my black-on-black outfit. It makes me feel fresh and warm to welcome a beautiful early fall day.

III. Incorporate little embellishments, like sequins, pearls or feather, to give the look a sophisticated and interesting touch.

I love the dark-golden sequin rose pedals on my stilettos.

My vintage pair of flower pearl earrings and brooch , just echo the flower shape of the sequin embellishments on my shoes.

I almost forgot the calf hair animal print clutch. I like how it plays in this outfit with its texture, its print, and its color.

It seems that I am having too many things going on, but a black outfit is truly the perfect backdrop to paint on.
